A2 A The IIU, by its own virtue and status will award the certificates, diplomas and degrees.

Q3 Will the certificates, diplomas and degrees, awarded by IIU be recognized elsewhere? How readily will these degrees be accepted by the 'Ulama over seas?
A3 We are currently in the process of gaining accreditation from Jamiatul Azhar in Egypt, Ummul Qura University in Makkah and the International Islamic University in Malaysia. Insha-Allah, once we gain accreditation from these universities, after graduation from Internet Islamic University you will, Insha-Allah, be able to continue your further education in any one of these fine Institutions. We have an advisory board consisting of scholars who are guiding and supervising IIU and faculty members who are very knowledgable in their fields and who are committed to serving Islam. Insha-Allah the degree you receive from the IIU will help you to further the cause of Islam.

A4 The faculty is composed of distinguished Islamic scholars and educators from all over the world, ie the USA, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey, India and South Africa, etc.

Q8 Who are eligible to apply for registration?
A8 Anyone will be eligible, irrespective of his/her ethnicity, nationality, religion, race or color. A general requirement however, is the completion of twelve years of schooling to prior to admission into either the certificate, diploma or bachelor's programs and four years of college as a prerequisite for admission to any of the Masters programs.

A9 No. Just the above stated prerequisites for admission.

Q10 What are the durations of the respective courses?
A10 a. Certificate - Six months (a total of 15 credit hours)
b. Diploma - One year after certificate (a total of 48 credit hours)
c. Bachelors - Two and a half years after diploma (a total of 120 credit hours)

Q11 Can I complete the Bachelors by part?
A11 Yes, after the successful completion of a certificate you can opt to discontinue your studies. If you wish to thereafter to register for the diploma at anytime, you will begin from where you left off, i.e. you can earn a diploma on completion of a further 48-15=33 credit hours. Similarly, you may continue to the Bachelor's after earning a diploma and taking time off.

Q12 Can I be a part-time student?
A12 Yes, the duration of the programs given are for regular full time students. As per convenience you can choose for a further split program. For example, to earn a certificate you can spread 15 credit hours over a year. However, you will only be permitted to register for those course(s) which are being offered in that particular quarter.

Q15 Must I speak Arabic before attending your school?
A15 No, Knowledge of Arabic is not necessary at all. You will be taught all the Arabic which will be needed throughout your course-work. All courses will be taught in English.

Q16 Will there be any financial aid and "payment plans" for students?
A16 Yes, insha-Allah there will be scholarships and we will insha-Allah soon implement payment plans for those students in need. The details thereof will be posted on the website.

A17 Yes, insha-Allah, this would be an excellent option for you. The courses offered in the IIU will reflect many different subjects for which you will not be required to have "preliminary" knowledge. You will be taught everything you need to know as part of the course itself insha-Allah. If however, you feel that you are missing something as you progress through your studies, you can ask the professors directly, you can ask other students, or you can ask someone at your local Masjid, etc. No Muslim knows everything, but together we will all come to know more, insha-Allah.

Q18 I am only interested in taking the Courses in Arabic language, will it be possible to register for only select courses?
A18 Yes indeed, insha-Allah, you will be able to register for whichever courses you'd like if you are not interested in pursuing any one of the degrees to completion. You will, of course, be required to take the relevant course prerequisites or equivalents, ie if a you wish to take intermediate level Arabic courses, you must have taken Introductory Arabic, or you must have shown us proof of proficiency thereof prior to obtaining permission to register for the more advance classes.

Q19 I have credit hours from my present college but I have not graduated yet. If I'd like to join your program do I have to attend all four years of school?
A19 That of course, depends on what kind of an institution you are presently enrolled in. If you have taken some Islamic courses, we will insha-Allah review those courses and see if you are eligible for exemptions.

Q20 Can I speak with a representative of the IIU?
A20 At present we are primarily working off the internet and all correspondence should be sent to our email (or snail-mail) box. Insha-Allah as we grow, we will be better able to receive other forms of communication.

Q21 How will exams be administered?
A21 Insha-Allah exams will be administered over the internet. Each exam will be password-protected and timed. The calculation of grades will be up to the discretion of the respective professors and will include class participation, quizzes, exams and final exams.

A23 We will insha-Allah evaluate it on a case-by-case basis. Please submit whatever you have along with your application and an explanation as to why your papers will be incomplete and when is it that you will submit the remaining documentation..

A26 You should continue your studies at your current Islamic University until you complete high school. As soon as you finish your HS diploma, you may then apply for a transfer to the IIU.

Q27 Why voice will not work behind proxy/firewalls?
A27 Voice Communication will not work behind a proxy or firewall, because of its requirement to have a peer to peer connection. The receiver must exist on the Internet with a public IP, if users are behind the proxy server then their IP is hidden and thus will not exist on the net.

Q28 Will voice work on DSL connection?
A28 Yes, voice will work on DSL connection if users have subscribed to a DSL provider which provides Public IP's. Ask your DSL provider if the IP that is assigned to you is public and can be known if you log onto a particular web site.
