The following are the policies, procedures, rules and regulations (PPRR)
approved by the IIU management and governed year around. These PPRR outlined
here are designed to enable the IIU to deal with its students in a consistent
and equitable manner. These policies, rules and regulations should not be
considered exhaustive. All other regulations and procedures such as schedules
and calendar issued each quarter must also be observed. The IIU management
reserves the right to make changes of any nature in the academic programs
and PPRR. All programs, PPRR and courses are subject to termination or change
without advance notice. Registration, tuition and other fees set forth are
similarly subject to change by IIU management. The exceptions to any of
the PPRR may be granted only by the IIU's President. No other officials
including faculty members are authorized to grant such exceptions independently.
Any student who is in doubt about how a policy, rule or regulation applies
to him or her should seek clarification from the IIU.
Admission Requirements
IIU firmly believes in equal opportunities in admission, on the basis of merit.
Admission into the available programs depends on the type and level of the
program that a candidate wishes to pursue. When screening applications,
IIU give importance to the applicant's potential to achieve academic success
in the desired program of study. Therefore, selection is based on the applicant's
previous academic records, as well as other relevant personal traits. As
an international institution, IIU welcomes all applicants, irrespective
of their ethnic origin, nationality, gender or faith.
General Admission Requirements
The general academic requirements for admission into IIU are as follows:
1. A high school diploma or a GED for U.S. residents.
2. 12th grade education or "A" level for residents of Canada and Europe.
3. 12 years of education or equivalent of it, like "A" level, from the rest
of the world.
Language Requirements
Non-English speaking students must present a score of 500 in the Test of
English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or equivalent.
Academic Schedule and Duration of Studies
Academic Calendar
There are four quarters in an academic year, commencing from October 1st
(Fall), January 1st (Winter), April 1st (Spring), and July 1st (Summer).
Academic System
The IIU Credit Hour System
The IIU credit hour system is based on a quantified curriculum, whereby
a certain number of credit hours are assigned to each course. Students are
required to successfully complete the total number of credit hours stipulated
in the program requirements in order to graduate. The number of credit hours
assigned to each course reflects the academic load that a student carries
when registered for that course. Therefore, a course that carries three
credit hours normally has three lecture hours per week.
Duration of Studies
A Certificate in Islamic Studies normally takes six months to complete 15
credit hours.
A Diploma in Islamic Studies normally takes one year after the completion
of the Certificate course.
A Bachelor in Islamic Studies normally takes 2 1/2 years after the completion
of Diploma course. There is no minimum of courses required to be taken each
quarter but a Certificate course must be complete in a maximum of one year;
Diploma course in a maximum of 2 1/2 years and Bachelors in six years.
Since the programs are not strictly structured, students may register for
courses of their own choice each quarter. However, this is on condition
that; (1) the chosen courses are offered in that quarter; (2) by registering
for the course, the student is not violating any regulations set by IIU;
and (3) the student fulfills all graduation requirements within the given
time period.
The idea of the IIU credit hour system is to treat each student as an individual
with specific needs. The system enables students to play an active role
in planning and managing their studies, from course registration to graduation.
Therefore, students are allowed to exercise a certain degree of flexibility
in order to optimize their performance, bearing in mind their own abilities,
needs and interests.
Evaluation of Student Performance
Evaluation of courses offered by IIU is based on the following grading scale:

Application Procedures
Registration
All new and continuing students are required to register each quarter and
registration starts for each quarter as follows:
* September 1st for Fall session
* December 1st for Winter session
* March 1st for Spring session
* June 1st for Summer session
Registration will close every quarter at the beginning of each academic
session. Application form must be filled and submitted electronically with
the required registration fee each quarter in the specified time frame.
Registration Fee
A non-refundable registration fee for new and continuing students is U.S.
$15 for each quarter.
Late Registration
Submission of registration form after the starting of academic session will
be considered as late registration and there will be an extra U.S. $10 charged.
There will be no registration after the 10th day of academic session.
Tuition Fee
Each course consists of three credit hours per quarter and the cost of each
credit hour is U.S. $100. Therefore, each course costs U.S. $300.
Discounts in the Tuition Fee
* Student: Those who are full time students in North America will get a 25% discount in tuition fee. There will be 40% discount if a group of ten and more students register and pay tuition fees as a group. First, they have to submit a list of all names of applicants through an e-mail to IIU and after the approval they should pay discounted tuition fee.
* Family: If second person is enrolled from the same family there will be
a discount of 15%; for third person: 20%; for fourth person:
25%; for fifth and above: 30% each.
* Canada and Europe: There will be a 30% discount for Canadian and European
students, i.e. U.S. $70 per credit hour.
* Asia and the Far East: There will be a 40% discount for Asian and Far
Eastern students, i.e. U.S. $60 per credit hour.
* Middle East: There will be a 50% discount for Middle Eastern students,
i.e. U.S. $50 per credit hour.
* Rest of the World: There will be a 70% discount for students from South
America, South East Asia, and Africa, i.e. U.S. $30
per credit hour.
Payment Mode
* All payments must be in U.S. dollars through credit card and through our
website, www.studyislam.com.
* If someone has any genuine reason not to pay through credit card then
payment through a bank draft in equivalent U.S. dollars along with the required
form, (for new students proof of minimum required education and TOEFL score
are also needed) has to reach IIU Headquarters before the start of each
academic session.

Payment Plan
There is a payment plan available for those who cannot pay the entire tuition
fee in one installment. Such students can pay their tuition fee in three
equal installments before the end of the second month of each quarter. There
will be suspension from the classes in case one fails to make payment of
all tuition fees within required time.
Financial Assistance
There is limited financial assistance in tuition fee available to the deserving
and eligible students. The students who are seeking financial assistance
should fill out the financial assistance form and submit it electronically
at least two weeks before the beginning of each quarter.
Grade Point Average (GPA)
Two kinds of grade point averages are used in the IIU grading system. The
quarter GPA is computed by dividing the total grade points earned by the
number of credit hours attempted in a giver quarter.
The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is computed by dividing the total
grade points earned by the total number of credit hours attempted at the
University up to that point in time. The system of education employed by
the University encourages interaction between lecturers and students and
requires active participation of students. This provides a conducive environment
for continuous assessment to take place and for students to develop consistency
in learning. Grades obtained, therefore, do not just reflect their performance
in the end-of-quarter examination but are based on a number of assignments,
projects, quizzes and tests conducted throughout the semester.
Adding and Dropping Courses
A student may add a course to, or drop a course from the portfolio of courses
that they have already registered for. Dropped courses mean cancellation
of the registration of the course in question, whereas added courses are
considered registered. This process should be complete before the 10th of
the quarter.
Withdrawal from Courses
Students may apply to withdraw from a course that they have already registered
for. Such an application must be made by the 10th of the academic quarter.
Attendance Requirement
Students are required to attend all lectures, tutorials, seminars, etc.
of courses that they have registered for. Attendance of 80% is necessary
to allow a student to take the final examinations of the quarter.
Academic Performance and Responsibilities of a Student
Academic Performance
Students are required to maintain a CGPA minimum of 2.00 to remain on good
academic standing. A student who obtains a CGPA below 2.00 but above 1.07
will be put on probation. A student on probation will not be allowed to
carry more than two courses in the subsequent quarter.
Academic Integrity
In keeping with its philosophy and objectives, the Internet Islamic University
seeks to promote a strong sense of mutual responsibility, respect, trust,
and fairness among all members of the IIU community. Towards this end, the
IIU demands the highest standards of academic behavior at all times. Students
are expected to show integrity and competence in their academic work. Members
of the IIU community are presumed to be familiar with proper academic procedures
and are held responsible for applying them. Incoming students have a special
responsibility to acquaint themselves with and make use of all proper procedures
for doing research, writing papers, and taking examinations. A student in
doubt concerning an academic matter should consult with the IIU management.
Student Conduct
Each student is responsible for knowing the rules, regulations, procedures,
academic and disciplinary policies of the Internet Islamic University. He/she
is expected to behave in accordance with Islamic values and the rules and
regulations of the IIU.
